Pub chain beefs up menu prices over cost of steak

TOBY Carvery owner Mitchells & Butlers has hiked its menu prices as the pub group warned the surge in the cost of steak would push up its costs by around another £30million this year.

The group said steak prices had raced 30% higher, which is particularly impacting its Toby Carvery eateries and Miller & Carter steak restaurants chain.

Phil Urban, chief executive of Mitchells & Butlers (M&B), said the group had raised prices by an average 3.2% on food and drink since the start of October, to offset the hit and other cost pressures.
