THIS year’s Festival of Speed at Goodwood celebrated 75 years of the Formula 1 World Championship with more than 100 Formula 1 cars in the event, as seven F1 world champions with 14 championships between them came together with the cars.

There were also plenty of Welsh connections alongside the international superstars and cars, that made up another unforgettable weekend of drivers and riders showcasing an incredible array of cars and motorcycles.

Fans were treated to an historic moment on Saturday afternoon, when the Balcony of Goodwood House welcomed Alain Prost, Emerson Fittipaldi, Sir Jackie Stewart - whose racing team was well known at the Pembrey Circuit Jacques Villeneuve, Mario Andretti, Mika Hiakkinen, and Nigel Mansell, another to have also driven at the Welsh circuit.

Goodwood threw itself back to the summer of 1995 as the event marked 30 years since Carl Fogarty won his second World Superbike Championship.

Foggy is another star with Welsh connections from his legendary race rides at the unique Aberdare Park circuit, the 2025 Welsh races also running at the same weekend as Goodwood.

And this year was also 30 years since the late Colin McRae claimed his World Rally Championship, with Welsh co-driver Nicky Grist alongside him in the Prodrive Subaru Impreza.

That car blasted up the hill climb, along with significant cars from McRae’s career.
