TWO men from Llanelli launched an assault on one of their ex-partner's new boyfriend after a fallout on the phone.

- BRYANA FRANCIS

Daniel Merriman, 33, and Jake Dighton, 32, have both been jailed.Swansea Crown Court heard how on June 14, Lee Ayre was in a park in Llanelli with his partner Alisha Thomas. While they were there, Ms Thomas received a call from her ex-partner, Dighton.

Despite no longer being together he made a comment about her dress being too short and she ended the call as it upset her.

Dighton and Merriman then entered the park and approached her but Ms Thomas walked away.

Merriman became "immediately aggressive" and started shouting at Mr Ayre and appeared to be hassling Ms Thomas.

The court heard Merriman hit and kicked Mr Ayre to the face and head on a number of occasions, knocking him to the ground.

Merriman got him in a headlock and Dighton joined in.

The victim was lying between two benches when a friend, Mr Fennel, approached and confronted Merriman and Dighton.

The court heard how an eyewitness from the park said Merriman and Dighton became verbally aggressive towards Mr Fennel.
