A MAN who assaulted his partner and spat in her face later rated his level of drunkenness as “11 out of 10", a court has heard.

Aaron Andrew verbally abused the woman, pulled her by the hair, threw a coffee table at her and hit her with a television following a night out.

The 50-year-old’s barrister told Swansea Crown Court Andrew recognised the “insidious and determinantal role” alcohol had played in his life and no longer consumed spirits.

Emily Bennet, prosecuting, told the court that on the evening of August 10 last year, Andrew and his partner went socialising in a club in Garnant, and that during the course of the evening the defendant became involved in an argument with a man who had been flirting with his girlfriend, which resulted in the other male being ejected from the premises.
