GP charged over posts about son's rape victim

THE father of a convicted rapist has been charged after allegedly posting abusive remarks online about the victim.

Dr Andrew McFarlane, a GP in the Highlands, is already at the centre of a probe over his conduct by a medical professional standards group.

Yesterday, Police Scotland confirmed the 61-year-old had been arrested and charged in connection with social media messages.

This comes three years after the his son was convicted of rape.

Daniel McFarlane, from Inverness, was sentenced to five years in jail after being found guilty of twice raping Ellie Wilson, who subsequently waived her right to anonymity.
