Consumers resilient, not optimistic, over economy

CONSUMER confidence rose slightly this month, driven by household “resilience” rather than economic optimism, according to a benchmark survey.

GfK’s Consumer Confidence Index rose one point to minus 16, marking 10 years since it was last in positive territory. Personal finance expectations for the year crept up four points to six — eight higher than this time last
