Arctic blast brings blizzards and travel chaos alert
November 19, 2025
|Scottish Daily Express
SCOTLAND has been hit by the first wave of what is expected to be an early winter onslaught.
Arctic air swooping over the country delivered blizzard conditions for some Highland communities, where the mercury is expected to plunge to -11C (12F) tomorrow night.
Much of the north is now under a 51-hour warning for snow and ice from the Met Office.
It is thought 'significant' snow and bitterly-cold temperatures could bring down power lines and cut off some remote communities.
The warning also states that atrocious conditions could leave some people stranded in their vehicles.
This morning, the Met Office says it will be the south of Scotland - including Glasgow and Edinburgh - which could see icy conditions during an official yellow weather warning which lasts until 11am.
