Rivals seize on Wids' crisis of confidence

WITH confidence low following the previous week's defeat against Nantwich, Widnes suffered a humiliating loss to recently-promoted Lindow by 193 runs last Saturday.

Dramatic improvements to all elements - bowling, batting and fielding - are urgently required if the side is to avoid relegation.

Perhaps the major concern for skipper Alex Hewitt is the lack of control exercised by his bowling attack, who consistently deliver wides and fail to build pressure on the batters.

The only bright spot from Saturday's performance was the bowling of spinner Palitha Kumara, who exercised some control when Lindow were looking to accelerate the run rate and Rohan Luthra, who took two wickets for 39.

Widnes won the toss and elected to bowl first.
