Erskine Library could move into temporary building under plans

A deal for the hire of a modular building to house Erskine Library on a temporary basis will go before Renfrewshire councillors this week.

All change Erskine Library looks set to be housed in a modular building on a temporary basis from April 2026

Elected members will be asked on Thursday to authorise awarding the supply contract - worth in excess of £340,000 - to Portakabin (Scotland).

If given the green light at the council's finance, resources and customer services policy board, the agreement will commence next month.

It is expected the resource, which will be located on land at Erskine Sports Centre in Kilpatrick Drive, will be installed and operational by April 10, 2026.

A report, which will be considered at the meeting, said: "Renfrewshire Council seeks to appoint the services of a competent and suitably experienced company for the hire of a modular building to be used as a temporary library facility at the existing Erskine Sports Centre who can deliver the site in early April 2026 on behalf of OneRen."
