FA charge Palace over Marinakis banner

CRYSTAL Palace have been charged with misconduct by the Football Association (FA) after supporters displayed a large banner about Nottingham Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis ahead of their Premier League clash in August.

Relations between the two clubs had become strained over the summer following their battle for a spot in this season's Europa League.

UEFA ultimately decided Forest would compete in the second-tier European competition instead of Palace, who were ruled out because of previous co-owner John Textor's stake in Lyon.

Whilst Marinakis was absent from the match, which ended 1-1, fans made their views known. Supporters in the Holmesdale End at Selhurst Park unveiled a banner showing Marinakis pointing a gun at Morgan Gibbs-White's head, referencing the midfielder’s failed move to Tottenham before he committed his future to Forest with a new deal.
