HM REVENUE & CUSTOMS NAMES 10 DEFAULTERS

- By JOSHUA HARTLEY

HM Revenue & Customs has shared its updated list of Nottinghamshire businesses and bosses who have failed to pay millions of pounds in tax.

It has once again named and shamed tax defaulters who received penalties either for deliberate errors in their returns or for deliberately failing to pay up.

The taxman revealed that 10 firms and business people from the county had not paid their fair share of tax, with the amount of tax/duty owed by the companies totalling more than £12 million.

Tax officials made clear each entry was specific to the dates mentioned, so directors may have changed their behaviour, may no longer be at the published address, and the businesses or premises named may have changed hands.

Amounts in the list relate to the tax/duty on which penalties are based and do not necessarily represent the full default of the taxpayer.

Zachariah William Boswell

Labourer Zachariah William Boswell, formerly of Milner Street, Lime Grove, and Parliament Street, in Newark, is on HMRC's list.

He defaulted between April 6, 2017, to April 5, 2020.

The taxman said the manual worker faced a penalty of £52,191 relating to £74,559 tax.
