BARNSTAPLE transformed into a vibrant living history hub as thousands gathered for a day of remembrance and celebration to mark the 80th anniversary of Victory in Europe (VE) Day.
The centrepiece of the commemorative weekend on May 11, the VE80 Festival, was held at Barnstaple Pannier Market and organised by The Veterans Charity. The event honoured those who served during the Second World War, while also highlighting the continuing work to support veterans today.
Crowds were treated to an array of live performances throughout the day, including sets from Tamsin Ball, Appledore Band, Chivenor Military Ladies Choir, and Fine Whines Vintage Jazz. The event captured the spirit of the 1940s with toe-tapping music and nostalgic melodies.
