College doubles apprenticeship target after businesses rally to its 100 in 100

With weeks remaining in the '100 in 100' campaign, Petroc is now aiming to double its initial target, further expanding opportunities for aspiring apprentices in the region.

The initiative, designed to create 100 apprenticeship opportunities in 100 days, provides individuals with invaluable skills and experience while supporting local businesses in strengthening their workforce with fresh, motivated talent.

Jon Baglow, head of apprenticeships at Petroc, described the campaign as an incredible success. Given the overwhelming support, the college has now set a new target of 200 pledges.

He said: "The local community has rallied behind this initiative, investing in the development of young talent and existing employees across the region.

"So far, 115 pledges have been received from 45 businesses across 11 different industries."

Industries leading the way include engineering, health and social care, construction, and hairdressing.

Petroc's construction apprenticeships in electrical, plumbing, bricklaying, and carpentry are expected to grow further before the campaign concludes.

The campaign is enhancing Petroc's market presence in northern and mid Devon.
