DELIGHTED SHOPS NAMED IN LIST OF UK'S TOP 50 CHIPPIES

TWO fish and chip shops in Greater Manchester have been named among the best in the UK.

Town Street Fryer in Marple, Stockport, and Sykes Fish and Chips in Pendlebury, Swinton, have made the top 50 in this year’s Fry Awards.

Published each year, Fry Magazine's 50 Best Fish & Chip Takeaways list is now a staple for the industry highlighting where the best mushy peas, battered cod and chips can be found.

The results follow months of judging in which takeaways, restaurants and mobile units were secretly assessed by mystery diners on a range of aspects such as food quality, cleanliness, staff expertise, value for money, ease of ordering and social media presence.

Only the operators with the highest scores earn an award, making it a much sought-after accolade. The pass mark this year is 97 per cent for the takeaway category and 96pc for restaurants.
