New campaign to help victims of sex assault and abuse

‘Staffordshire Survive’ aims to bust myths over therapy

ANYONE who has been affected by sexual assault and abuse in Staffordshire is being offered support as part of anew campaign.

A confidential therapy service is available to all survivors who are going through, or have been through, the criminal justice process.

Launched by Staffordshire Survive, the campaign aims to bust myths surrounding therapy for survivors, healthcare professionals and others.

Commissioned by the Staffordshire Police, Fire & Crime Commissioner, the Survive service first launched in 2020 and has supported thousands of victims in their recovery since then.

Charlotte Almond, chief executive officer at Staffordshire Women’s Aid, said: “Many survivors of sexual abuse feel uncertain about accessing pre-trial counselling.

“Some believe it might make them relive traumatic experiences or interfere with the legal process.
