A new run club has started at Haslam Park, bringing the 'run club is the new nightclub' trend to Ashton-on-Ribble.

- by Kate Rosindale

Lorah Cheyne, from Fulwood, started Brew Crew Run Club after responding to a call out from the new coffee spot of the same name.

Amid a surge in group fitness popularity - the Strava Year in Sport Trend Report 2024 revealed "making social connections" as the lead motivator for people to exercise - the first Brew Crew Run Club took place in April.

"I'd recently started running again, and then I saw Brew Crew's post asking for a volunteer to start a run club" says Lorah. "I've really been loving it, so I thought it'd be a good way to keep up with it and also bring people together."

Although it's her first time leading a run club, Lorah's no stranger to group fitness: "I go to Unit 4 in Preston, and the community aspect there is something that's really important to me and my friends now. I wanted to bring that same energy to running."
