Isolation Crisis
MARCH 26, 2026 ISSUE
|Kashmir Observer
Kashmir immediately needs to address an elephant in the room.
-
The problem cannot be brushed aside now. In recent years, the valley has grown more isolated and faces rising strain in relationships and health.Daily life looks fuller and faster than before. Work hours stretch longer for many households. Young people move out for study and jobs, and many build lives away from home. Homes that once held extended families now hold only a few members. These changes bring income and exposure, and they also reduce everyday contact.
Shared meals, neighbourly visits, and collective work once held communities together. That fabric now shows clear gaps.
