Irish Daily Mirror

Treat Dad this weekend with a hearty home-cooked meal that hits all the right notes. Start with sticky barbecue ribs - smoky, tender and finger-licking good. Serve alongside crispy smashed potato and asparagus salad, and for dessert, how about a twist on a classic with this easy banana and tahini Eton mess, guaranteed to make him smile.

Prep these ribs in the oven first, then glaze with a sticky sauce and fire up the barbecue. They can be easily transported for finishing outdoors

4 racks of baby back pork ribs or other whole racks (about 450g each)

5tbsp cider vinegar

2tbsp smoked paprika

4tbsp light brown soft sugar

1tbsp garlic granules

1tbsp onion granules

1tbsp Chinese five-spice powder

300g tomato ketchup

2tbsp honey

1tbsp soy sauce

1tbsp Dijon mustard

300ml apple juice
