JLKM seeks Z security for party's president
April 10, 2025
|Hindustan Times Ranchi
The Jharkhand Loktantrik Krantikari Morcha (JLKM) has demanded Z-category security cover for its sole party MLA and president, Jairam Kumar Mahto, from the Centre, party leaders said on Wednesday.
BOKARO: Dumri MLA Jairam Kumar Mahto on Tuesday lodged an FIR against Congress's Bokaro legislator Shweta Singh and her aides, alleging that they assaulted him, issued threats, and damaged his vehicle when he reached the protest site outside Bokaro Steel Plant on April 3, shortly after a police lathi-charge on agitating displaced youth led to the death of a protester.
According to the FIR lodged at Bokaro city police station on Tuesday, Mahto has accused Shweta Singh and her associates under several sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including sections 131 (assault without grave provocation), 191 (rioting), 190 (unlawful assembly), 126(2) (wrongful restraint), 115(2) (voluntary hurt), and 324(2) (mischief causing damage to property valued between ₹25,000 and ₹2 lakh).
Mahto, in his statement, said he was in Ranchi attending an assembly committee meeting when he learned of a police lathi-charge on protesting youth in Bokaro, which resulted in the death of a young man named Prem Mahto.
"Upon reaching Bokaro to meet the agitating protestors outside the administrative building of Bokaro Steel Limited, I was confronted and assaulted by Shweta Singh and her supporters," Mahto alleged in the FIR.
He further accused Singh of issuing a direct threat, allegedly telling him to leave the premises or face dire consequences, asserting that he, being a Dumri MLA, had no jurisdiction or relevance in Bokaro.
