Teen star's hat-trick before birthday
TEENAGE St Helens ace George Whitby enjoyed an early birthday present and gave boss Paul Wellens his own huge gift.
The talented scrum-half turns 19 to-morrow and celebrated with the first hat-trick of his career plus six goals.
It meant under-fire Saints utterly embarrassed shambolic Catalans, avoided a fourth straight defeat and eased mounting pressure on Wellens.
It is now Dragons chief Steve McNamara feeling the heat after this awful display and Saturday's Challenge Cup semi-final exit left him staring at three straight losses.
Wellens initially gave Whitby his chance last month, boldly selecting him and dropping captain Jonny Lomax.
