Ice-cool Emma turns up the heat on Xu

EMMA RADUCANU kept her cool in the blazing sun to cruise into the second round of Wimbledon.

Raducanu won her 'Battle of Britain' with Mimi Xu following a 6-3 6-3 straight-sets triumph on a baking No.1 Court.

The British No.1 proved too strong for debutant Xu, despite some flashes of brilliance from the teenage prodigy.

And it was the perfect start to what Raducanu hopes will be a strong campaign at SW19.

It was back in 2021 when Raducanu won the US Open against the odds to announce herself to the sporting world.

But since that incredible triumph her career has gone backwards.
