Martina & Chris still the best of enemies

CHRIS Evert and Martina Navratilova were fearsome ‘‘icy’’ foes as they each won 18 tennis Grand Slam titles.

From November 1975 until August 1987, either Chris or Martina was World No1 in 592 of the 615 weeks.

They played 80 times from 1973 to 1988 with 60 of the games in finals and 14 in Grand Slam finals.

Martina won 36 of the 60 title matches, including 10 of the slams.

She still holds the record of nine Wimbledon titles while Chris won a record seven French Opens.

But that rivalry is long gone and they had nothing but love for each as they both fought against cancer.
