Viduka struck goals during the golden 'Barclays' era

A FOOTBALL version of the Ashes in 2026 would be about as one-sided as the cricket debacle that has just unfolded Down Under - but in reverse.

England sit fourth in the latest FIFA world rankings, while Australia find themselves down in 26th.

But turn the clock back 20 years and it would have been a far closer contest.

Under the management of Guus Hiddink, the Socceroos made the last 16 at the 2006 World Cup with Harry Kewell, Mark Schwarzer and Tim Cahill in their prime and leading the attack was big Mark Viduka.

An all-time Leeds great, Viduka was a bulldozer of a striker who is rightly remembered as a true 'Barclaysman'.

For those unfamiliar with the term, it refers to cult heroes who starred in the Premier League during the years Barclays were title sponsors (2001-2016).

Think Morten Gamst Pedersen, Yakubu and Jay-Jay Okocha.
