Gers' title bid is real deal as they make it four wins on the spin

- SCOTT MCDERMOTT AT IBROX

ON Saturday they got Wilfried Nancy fired.

And last night Rangers shot themselves above Celtic to go clear second in the Premiership.

Emmanuel Fernandez and Nico Raskin were the marksmen against Aberdeen.

Two bullet headers from set-pieced before halftime ensured Danny Rohl's side got rid of the Dons and put a target on the back of leaders Hearts.

Rangers are now breathing down the Jambos' necks after recording their fourth straight league win the first time they've done that in 13 months.

By moving within three points of the Tynecastle club, they fired out another warning to the rest of the league that their title challenge is genuine.

This result was never in any real doubt. Aberdeen sacked their gaffer on Sunday, caretaker boss Peter Leven replaced Jimmy Thelin but the visitors were second best at Ibrox.

MENTALITY ANSWERS

Lack of a winning mentality has been the accusation thrown at Rangers so often in the last few years.

Whenever they've looked like challenging for honours or got close to mounting a title bid, they've let themselves down when it really mattered.

Now, they've still got a long way to go this season under Rohl to prove they've the credentials to be champions. But going into this game off the back of their derby win over Celtic, there was a question mark over how they'd follow it up.

With most observers now accepting they're in the race, Gers had to do a professional job against the Dons to keep their momentum going.
