Trail hunt ban would 'open a Pandora's box'

LABOUR risks "opening a Pandora's box" if it presses ahead with a ban on trail hunting, a senior peer claimed.

The warning came as hundreds of angry protesters marched on the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs in Westminster this week with a pack of hounds.

A government consultation on outlawing trail hunting has just closed.

It marked the latest flashpoint in what rural campaigners have branded a Labour war on the countryside.

Tory peer Lord Herbert said ministers were making a grave mistake. He added: "The government is opening a Pandora's box, and if they have any sense, they will close it again."
