Prostate cancer now most common form of the disease in UK

PROSTATE cancer has overtaken breast cancer to become the UK’s most common form of the disease.

Some 64,425 men were diagnosed in 2022, compared to 61,640 breast cancer diagnoses.

The figure was a 24% rise on 2021, when 51,823 men were told they had prostate cancer.

Increased awareness is thought to have driven a 42% increase in diagnoses in the past decade.

But the Prostate Cancer UK charity, which shared the analysis, said further changes to NHS guidance were needed to save more lives.

Men over 50, black or with a family history of the disease are at a higher risk and can request a PSA hormone blood test.
