New proximity 'alerts' able to protect victims from abusers

RAPISTS and domestic abusers will be monitored “live” 24/7 and could be arrested if they approach their victims under a huge tagging revamp.

Offenders who go within a certain distance of their victims or their homes will trigger a proximity alert, and probation staff could call them to warn them to back off.

If the offender does not comply, police could be sent to the scene.
