Court adjourns Gumedes fraud trial

THE Durban High Court adjourned early yesterday in the money laundering case involving Zandile Gumede and 21 others, following a health issue affecting one of the accused.
Advocate Sicelo Zungu informed the court that his client, accused Sixo Mkhizekoji Nojiyeza was unable to remain seated due to a medical condition, prompting the judge to postpone proceedings after a lengthy one-hour lunch break.
The accused face numerous charges, including money laundering, racketeering, fraud, corruption, and contravention of the Municipal Finance Management Act and the Municipal Systems Act, relating to the R300 million Durban Solid Waste (DSW) tender.
