RESIDENTS of a small village on the edge of Cambridgeshire have expressed dissatisfaction after the Government confirmed plans to transform their rural community into a fast-tracked “new town.”

The villagers argue that there was insufficient consultation and have also raised concerns about frequent flooding in the area.

The village of Tempsford, home to merely 600 people and approximately 300 homes, is set to undergo radical redevelopment as part of a nationwide initiative to create 12 new towns to alleviate the UK's housing crisis.

Tempsford in Bedfordshire, Crews Hill in Enfield, and Leeds South Bank will see construction begin before the next general election.

The population of Tempsford is projected to increase to 40,000, with thousands of homes on surrounding greenfield land.
