Outpouring of sadness as beloved city pub calls time

AN old Grade II-listed pub described by fans as the ‘best in Birmingham’ has closed.

The Anchor, in Bradford Street, Digbeth, announced it would be shutting on its social media accounts.
Landlord Julian Rose-Gibbs said that ‘this age of the Anchor is over’ with no further details emerging on the future of the venue.
Mr Rose-Gibbs told the Birmingham Post: “Costs of everything rise and independents suffer. Nothing lasts forever.
“This age of the Anchor is over. It's been emotional.”
‘The Anchor was given its first licence back in 1797.
