After nearly four decades in fashion, designer Silvia Tcherassi is just getting started.

This is proving to be a banner year for Silvia Tcherassi. The Miami-based, Colombia-born talent was this year's International Guest Designer for Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Madrid as the event celebrated its 40th anniversary in September. Tcherassi also feted 10 years of her first boutique in the Spanish capital—her chosen “gateway to the continent”—and the opening of a new design studio in the city (which will function, she says, as a “creative lab”).
