The burlesque star reflects on what luxury means to her, from caviar and Louis Vuitton to a love of monogramming her belongings

Originally from Michigan, the dancer, actress and choreographer Dita Von Teese, 53, made her mark on London in the early 2000s, when a routine she performed in a giant martini glass cemented her status as the queen of burlesque.

Since then, she has performed at some of the world's most illustrious venues, in cities including Paris, Las Vegas and New York. Her latest show, Nocturnelle, begins a run of UK dates in January.

Caviar Kaspia in Paris is my favourite restaurant. I lust after that famous baked potato with caviar. The last time I had it, the owner swooped over to me with a caviar reload.

I've always been a collector of exceptional lingerie. I have corsets made by Mister Pearl. He has created pieces of haute couture that are now museum pieces - there is no one on the planet who can make a corset like he can.
