Apple's Retail Run in India

APPLE is on a retail tear in India. In just 48 hours, the company has cut the ribbon on two brand new stores: first in Bengaluru, and now with Apple Koregaon Park in Pune. Amidst this whirlwind expansion, which doubles Apple's physical store count in the country to four—joining existing locations in Mumbai, Delhi, and the just-opened Apple Hebbal in Bengaluru—BW Businessworld sat down with Vanessa Trigub, Apple's Vice President of Stores and Retail Operations. As the executive in charge of this global push, her presence on the ground signals the strategic importance of this moment.

Pace, Energy, Commitment

The cadence of the launches has been intense. For Trigub, who was in Bengaluru for the opening of Apple Hebbal just a day earlier, the momentum is a source of excitement. “Yes, we are so excited to be opening our third and fourth store,” she began. “I got to be a part of the Bengaluru opening yesterday, and the energy was incredible, and I cannot wait for tomorrow and just see the Pune community that we get to welcome here in store.” When the doors of Apple Koregaon Park opened on Thursday, September 4, at 1 pm IST, that community was greeted by a team of 68 members from 11 different Indian states. They were ready to help customers shop for the latest product lineup. Like all Apple facilities, the Koregaon Park store runs on 100 per cent renewable energy and is carbon neutral. The sentiment is echoed by Trigub's boss, Deirdre O'Brien, Apple's Senior Vice President of Retail + People.

In an official statement, O'Brien said, “In a city celebrated for its history and creativity, Apple Koregaon Park introduces an incredible new destination for customers to connect with all things Apple.”
