Architect Hafeez Contractor's (AHC) design for Indian conglomerate Aditya Birla's new corporate training institute in Navi Mumbai is a dynamic, sinuous form that fosters an innovative social learning environment

The Aditya Birla Group’s latest venture, Gyanodaya West Campus, exemplifies this transformative power of design in driving business success. This 181,650 sq ft campus designed by AHC is a paradigmatic example of a carefully crafted ecosystem that fosters growth, collaboration, and innovation. “The campus was commissioned by the Aditya Birla Group as a dedicated training centre for graduates entering their workforce. The client was keen on a design that showcased a distinct identity, embodying progress and innovation. After a few conceptual iterations, they embraced Founder and Principal Hafeez Contractor's proposal for a fluid, non-linear architectural form that aligned with the company’s agile and forward-looking vision,” informs architect Karl Wadia, Senior Associate Architect, Archtiect Hafeez Contractor.

The design ethos is rooted in the client's commitment to leadership and excellence, as evident in the seamless convergence of state-of-the-art technology and interactive tools. The institute's architecture encourages participants to transcend boundaries, facilitating the exchange of knowledge and ideas. Speaking about how architecture impacts its inhabitants, Karl says, “It's important to design learning and working environments that prioritise the emotional and mental well-being of its occupants. The project is defined by its dynamic form, flexible open-plan layouts, and strong indoor-outdoor connections that create an engaging and comfortable user experience. The fluid architectural and interior spaces work in tandem to inspire trainees and foster a space for non-conventional ideas integral to management and leadership roles.”
