APPLE OVERTAKES FITBIT AS KING OF THE WEARABLES
While Apple has always been seen as a leader when it comes to smartphones, tablets, and computers, it was only in 2015 that the company joined the wearables market. And, although the Apple Watch was met with fanfare from fans and technology journalists, others panned the product and predicted an imminent downfall.
Apple Watch has, however, managed to disrupt the wearable technology market and make a name for itself – just as analysts long predicted in the months and years before the product was announced. It was inevitable that the Watch would enjoy success – it comes from the world’s most respected consumer technology company, and features cutting-edge hardware that provides its users with true value and appeal. And, while Apple remains tight-lipped about official sales figures of its Apple Watch for competitive reasons, both the company and its investors now have a reason to celebrate – Apple has been crowned the world’s top wearables vendor.
Not only has Apple managed to overtake competitors such as FitBit and Garmin to become the world’s most popular smartwatch vendor, but it can now also boast of being the world’s largest watch brand overall. Data from AAPL PI suggests Apple has overtaken Rolex by an incredible $650 million margin, making it the world’s largest watch brand by revenue.
