With cavernous light filled spaces, multiple split levels, custom engineered skin, embedded technology, water cascades and pools, indoor vegetation, this single-family residence in Bangalore articulates a nuanced design language seeking a balance between restraint and animation.

We have known the client for a few years and our relationship has grown over few commercial projects that we designed for him. Narendra Babu is a rare client who invests entirely in building an ethical bond of trust with the architect and then steps away to give a free hand with the whole process of design and execution.
This project challenged us with an unusual situation of a shrinking plot size. Repeated road widening initiatives by local authorities shaved off large parts of the plot area, leaving us with 30% less space within a year. This happened while the design was being carried out and we had to return to the boards to deal with change
