During centuries, the bay of Funchal was a safe haven for thousands of vessels. It’s
history is full of compelling characters and landmarks. At a time which sees the city
celebrate the 100th anniversary of the establishment of the entity that propelled the
works on the local Port of Funchal, Essential recalls this journey as well as the strong
connection that locals share towards the sea and their city Port.
The Island of Madeira is also home to one of the most acclaimed wines in the World, the
Madeira Wine, which is guaranteed to be found a little everywhere. With this in mind,
