This edition marks four years of Cosmo in Sri Lanka and what a ride it’s been! Over the past few years, we’ve persisted in changing the game of fashion, beauty, career, lifestyle, love and relationships and more. But, we also wanted to talk about the even tougher subjects from mensuration, birth control, FGM and sexually transmitted diseases to body shaming, suicide and depression to harassment on the streets and at work. They’re topics we’re passionate about and we know they’re just as important to other millennial and gen Z women.
March also coincides with International Women’s Day and staying true to our ethos, we’re having more uncomfortable conversations. Gender-based domestic violence is not an old topic but it’s still very prevalent. We dove in deep. Somewhere between your teenage years and early to mid-twenties, you may have encountered aunties, wiggling their eyebrows, asking the infamous question, “So, darling…when are you going to find a nice boy and settle down?” If you’re shuddering at the mere thought, you’re not alone.
