The reputation of Echelon is being built on the separation between editorial and advertising. However we are also looking for the most creative and impactful new formats that can be applied in our magazines, iPad app as well as website to help our clients reach our audience. A Room of One's Own he 2024 edition of the ACCA Sri Lanka Sustainability Reporting Awards did not have a winner in the equality and inclusion category because none of the many annual reports submitted had any evidence of tangible impact—a sobering fact. The judges did not select a winner in this category, citing a lack of meaningful data and measurable goals. Women need better opportunities, but even stating this feels reductive—why must equality still be argued for? Systemic barriers persist in education, employment, and leadership, limiting progress. As Virginia Woolf wrote, "A woman must have money and a room of her own if she is to write fiction." The same applies to any field—resources and respect are prerequisites for success. Women's Day should not be a performative celebration but a moment to assess structural change. Even writing this risks being condescending; the real issue is why this conversation is still necessary. In this edition, we feature Jacalyn Bennett and Kate Mosse, who have dedicated their lives to making the world a better place. They are doing so on their own terms: an inspiration - and wakeup call - to all.
