As you’ll notice from our cover this month, we take a look at Mercedes-Benz’s last hurrah for the iconic G-Class (which will soon be replaced). To send the G-Class off in style, the company has created the most luxurious version ever: the Maybach G650 Landaulet. Our second big feature this month is a race between an Isuzu KB bakkie and a Cheetah airplane. Is a plane really faster, or is overland travel the better option? We find out… How does a 1979 Hilux compare to a 2017 model? To find out, we took both to an off-road trail. To say that Toyota’s bakkie has evolved significantly is quite an understatement…
We also took Hyundai’s new Creta crossover on a bit of an off-road jaunt to find out if the little SUV can handle the adventure lifestyle. We walked away very impressed. On the technical side, we look at the effect that larger tyres can have on your drivetrain, and we discuss the potential pitfalls of an auxiliary tank. We also look at the most exciting vehicles to make their debut at the Geneva Auto Show, examine Jeeps’ awesome new Easter Safari concepts, and feature Toyota Australia’s funky Tonka Hilux.
