Politicking comes to Blue Hill.  This past week Jill Biden, wife of Democratic Party Presidential Candidate Joe Biden, came to town.  Also in town was Maine U.S. Senate candidate Sara Gideon.  The public will get its first look inside the nearly completed Lawrence Family Fitness Center with a virus-safe open house on this Friday and Saturday. Absentee ballot procedures and process are explained.  There are many fall events going on at the Blue Hill Library.

Public hearing Monday will address Blue Hill local issues on the November General Election ballot. Composting project faces hurdles in Brooklin and Surry.  At Home Downeast has fundraiser.

Yes, there will be limited fall sports at George Stevens Academy. Blue Hill auctions tax acquired property recouping back taxes owed. New speed checking sign on Blue Hill’s Main Street is vandalized.

A new area composting facility is planned for Brooklin. The empty fairgrounds symbolize living with the coronavirus. The Blue Hill Public Library sponsors a dialogue on race.

Blue Hill Selectmen set local referendum questions for the November General Election. Fall sports are indefinitely postponed at George Stevens Academy. Awanadjo Almanac columnist Rob McCall has a new book out.  Pushcart Press owner Bill Henderson receives a special award.

A busy news week. A lobster boat hit a ledge and partly sank off Brooklin. George Stevens Academy and Blue Hill Consolidated School provide more opening details. There was a protest at the Sedgwick Post Office. There will be a revote for the Blue Hill pesticide ordinance in November.  

The pilot and a passenger in a small plane made it safely to shore after their plane crashed in the Morgan Bay waters off Newberry Neck in Surry August 17.  Both were uninjured.  The Lawrence Family Fitness Center in Blue Hill is nearing completion. There will be  public viewing opportunities coming up.  George Stevens Academy will have a hybrid teaching model this fall.

Brooklin celebrates Roger Angell’s 100th birthday. Brooksville’s town buildings to be solar powered. New trail  in Blue Hill connects to in-town network.
