GSA is able to defer the tuition increase request because of a federal loan. Quarantine—what do the visitors to the area think? Don’t forget the census! It’s all inside!
Federal loan allows GSA to defer its tuition increase request
BLUE HILL—Being given a forgivable loan of $732,000 has made it possible for George Stevens Academy to withdraw its current request to sending towns for a student tuition increase for the coming 2020-21 school year. At a recent special meeting, the academy’s board of trustees voted unanimously to accept the loan from the federal Paycheck Protection Program (PPP). A public letter, signed by board Chair Samantha Politte and Vice-Chair Sally Mills, stated that “the PPP loan does not erase this tuition shortfall over the long term, but does allow us to get through the next few months.” The full text of the letter appears on the community Forum page 4 of this issue.
