International reports include the microbial input from nature being a key component of the beneficial effect of green space, and specific design characteristics of urban parks that can induce in visitors the pattern of brain activity that is associated with contemplative or meditative states.

In its search for 100 resilient cities, the Rockefeller Foundation has defined resilience as
“the capacity of individuals, communities, and systems to survive, adapt, and grow in the
face of stress and shocks, and even transform when conditions require it”.1 Singapore is
among the 35 cities recently selected to join the 32 selected last year for its 100 Resilient
