Classical + Jazz The Petersburg wind ensemble Olympic Brass came to light in 2006, drawing together musicians that represent the schools of both classical and jazz. These two directions shaped a unique approach to musical performance. The ensemble plays music from both Russian and foreign films and the personal arrangements of its horn player Alexander Golikov. This approach includes a wide diversity of genres: classical, classic jazz, jazz of the 1930s, latin melodies, slow bossa-nova and jazz ballads, modern jazz and classic blues, hot Balkans-influenced pieces and klezmer, modern funk, and hits of the world stage. Olympic Brass performs its programme “Muzyka Kino” (“Music from the Films”) on 24 September in the Philharmonia Small Hall.
