In this issue

One of the geniuses of art deco is returning to the Northern Capital on 21 June, when an exhibition of drawings by the celebrated artist, theatrical designer and fashion designer Erté (real name Roman Tyrtov) opens in the Twelve-Column Room in the New Hermitage. In 1912 he left Russia for good and settled in Paris, where he was known as Romain de Tirtoff. He took his pseudonym from the first letters of his name and surname: RT (Erté). His first individual exhibition in Russia will feature 136 works from Mike Estorick’s collection: watercolours, gouaches, pen drawings, several examples of printed graphics and two sculptures.
