The prestigious and traditional Governor's Cup was held on 15th April, 2025 at the Nuwara Eliya race track and the major sponsor was M/s. Edwards Collections. The first race was run in the year 1892 at the Nuwara Eliya race track. This year 2025, there was a total of 5 races sponsored by M/s. Edwards Collections, HI Magazine, Sporting Star and Sporting Times. The mile race was run under testing conditions due to a heavy downpour. As the starter flagged off the race, EDDIE THE EAGLE recently imported from India and owned by Gamini and Chamari Jayarathne, and ridden by Indian based jockey M.S. Deora and trained by S.V. Mathialagan won the prestigious Governor's Cup 2025.
