In this issue
This edition is focused on Architectural Hardware Industry for Façades, Doors & Windows: Growth Prospects, Challenges and Trends.
This edition’s cover stories (Part 1 & 2) are on hardware industry for façade and
fenestration. The role of these products is not limited to giving aesthetics or help in
closing and opening of the doors only, but they also play an important role in safety
aspects.
There was a high speculation at the end of the last year regarding the façade and
fenestration Industry. Demand for cheap, non-standard and local hardware is the
biggest challenge for the organised architectural hardware industry. Corvid changed
the preferences of the producers and the consumers. This change of preference causes
people to question the quality and look for tested products, and enabled companies
(that can sense the need of their customers) to change themselves to survive. This applies
not only to companies that manufacture hardware but also to window manufacturers
that use them. They understood that the business should be competitive by focusing on
quality and correct installation methods.
The increased metal prices after the Covid taught the importance of recycling. Even
consumers have come to understand the need for recyclable and eco-friendly products.
The GOI has now started to make some policies towards standardisation in terms of
safety related to hardware usage and execution of systems, which also needs to be
regulated to not let anyone compromise safety. The future of architectural hardware
is growing in the right path with the industry adopting new technologies that are
expanding the roles of the hardware and making it more efficient for the buildings.
