IS CHAOS THE NEW STATUS QUO?
We’re in the middle of a crazy-crazy world! Caste-based atrocities have shaken up everyone in Tamil Nadu, while parents in Bangalore are angry with a comic convention distributing pornographic material to under-aged children, in their free goodie bags, if you must! Telugu superstar Pawan Kalyan has doubled up his demands for more autonomy for the South of India and in Kerala, the Sabarimala issue never seems to end. Why are we here? As people of the Deccan or the Dravidian country, we’ve always prided ourselves at being more evolved and always proclaim that tolerance runs in our blood — so, why is this happening? My answer is as good as yours and comes from a place of absolute urgency to find sense in all this chaos.

This edition hopes to address the issues we deal with on a daily basis and represents voices that openly talk about human rights issues. GV Prakash encourages young Tamil Nadu to get rid of these caste issues and openly tackle gender issues that plague the state; from Kerala we have a story on Chekutty, the doll that brought back smiles to Chendamangalam. From Hyderabad, we have the voices of men who feel wronged by a judicial system, that they claim, unfairly prioritises women; while from Puducherry, we have a piece that talks about blurring caste boundaries through an innovative rural initiative.
