The 45th G7 summit is all set to begin at the seaside town of Biarritz in France where heads of state from seven of the world’s largest economies will descend. Apart from the G7 group of Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, United Kingdom and United States, French President Emmanuel Macron has also invited India along with other partner countries and African nations, to a special session at the summit.

The country is moving towards reducing emissions through transition to renewable energy, adoption of Light Emitting Diodes (LEDs) and Electric Vehicles (EVs), but the country also has its own set of challenges such as seemingly uncontrolled waste generation as well as air pollution of ‘hazardous’ nature. As we once again gather for the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) Week here in Paris, a lot has changed since the last major gathering of businesses and policy makers from around the world that took place in Davos during the World Economic Forum in late January.

The mood then was very optimistic and outlook robust. Global businesses were extremely upbeat as the world economy had just completed its best year in over a decade, with a 3.8 pc growth. On the political side, too, things were looking stable.
