Kalachuvadu, the magazine for art and ideas started and run by modernist pioneer Sundara Ramaswamy withdrew its publication after eight years. An young team lead by Kannan Sundaram revived the magazine in 1994. Now it is the 25th year of this alternative magazine. To commemorate this event the magazine brings a special number now.

This issue is in four parts. One is the section which consists of the relation between two classical languages, Tamil and Sanskrit. 16 scholars contribute to this vibrant discussion. The second section is for articles on Mahatma Gandhi whose 150th year being celeberated. Porunai pakkangal devoted to the first novelist in Tamil and scholar Mayuram Vedhanayagam pillai with excerpts and extracts of his writings. The uncollected short stories by great writers of yester years such as Mauni, M.V. Venkatram, T. Janakiraman, Karichankunju and P. Singaram. Apart from these regular features and special literary works make this issue a collector’s delight.
